Suicide Prevention in Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC): Overview for the Team
Program Description: The purpose of this training is to provide basic education to support HBPC nurses and other non-mental health clinicians to engage in critical suicide prevention activities, noting that suicide prevention is everyone’s job. The presentation will discuss how the HBPC nurse and other team members in the homecare setting can recognize suicide risk and protective factors and warning signs, participate in suicide risk screening and evaluation, and support safety planning with Veterans.
Please note: This program is relevant for all HBPC staff. For physicians, NPs, PAs, and mental health professionals, the material is at an introductory level.
